What is the aim of the Smart Home Test?
Technology constantly presents new opportunities and threats. The insurance industry is not immune to these pressures so we are looking at how we might embrace this technology to take a more proactive role and provide smart home solutions to our customers. Solutions that offer new ways to protect their home and family which in turn may allow us to mitigate risk and deliver more value. The aim of this test is to evaluate the benefits of this new technology to insurance companies.

Main App Sections

Dashboard
The dashboard is where you will access your smart devices. You can scroll down to find a specific device or use the horizantal selector to filter them by category. Each device is represented by a tile that displays the information and basic controls. To access the device advanced functions click on each tile's gear icon.

Alerts
The Alert section displays a list of all the alert events that were triggered in the last 24 hours. Each event alert will allow you to watch a short videorecord from your cameras at the time of the event, and also make a call to one of your registered emergency contacts. See Modes to learn how to set the alert events for each device.

Modes
Modes are settings that define the way in which the smart devices in your home interact with you and with each other in case of an (unwanted) event. In the 'Modes' you can set for each mode - off, home, night, away - which predefined actions will be executed in an event. For some of this actions you will need a camera and a siren in your system.

Activity
The activity section of the App is a timelog list that displays all the events that happened in the last 24 hours. There you can find at what time a door was opened, motion was detected, etc. In the next version of the App the user wil be able to filter and sort these events.
